小豆島は小豆島町、土庄町からなる人口約27，000人の島です（2021年11月）。

一年を通して温暖な気候でオリーブの産地として知られています。島は二十四の瞳、小豆島霊場八十八ヶ所巡り、島一周サイクリングなど観光地としても有名です。最近は3年に1度開催される瀬戸内国際芸術祭の会場として、より一層の賑わいを見せています（次回は2022年開催予定）。

島の人たちは余暇に畑作りや魚釣りと穏やかの島生活を送っています。島には3つの温泉（オリーブ温泉、サン・オリーブ温泉・吉田温泉）があり、スーパーをはじめ、コンビニ、ホームセンター、電気屋さんなどあり、買い物に不自由することはありません。また総合病院もあります。

Shodoshima is an island consisting of Shodoshima town and Tonosho town with a population of about 27,000.

It is known for its mild climate all year round, so is known as the origin of olives. The island is also famous as tourists’ destination with the making film location of Academy Award Foreign Film Award winner, ‘twenty-four pupils’, pilgrimages to the eighty-eight temples in Shodoshima. We can also enjoy cycling around the island. It has become even more lively as a venue for the Setouchi International Arts Festival, which is held once every three years.

Islanders spend their time farming, fishing to enjoy peaceful island lives in their spare time. There are 3 hot springs on the island. There are supermarkets, convenience stores, home improvement stores, electric stores, and so on, so you won’t have any trouble shopping. There is also general hospitals.

気ままな旅好きの私がカメラ片手にバックパックを背負い、世界中のゲストハウスやユースホステルを泊まり旅した国は40カ国余り。そして行き着いたところが小豆島でした。

若い頃は島内の宿泊業に従事して、宿泊業をはじめ島暮らしのノウハウを学びました。そして十数年が経ち、この古民家に巡り合いました。

2020年の早春、国内外からの観光客をおもてなしできるようゲストハウスの準備をしていた矢先、パンデミックが全世界を襲いました。先の見えない不安な日々でこの古民家をリモートワーク可能な一棟貸しゲストハウスにすることを思い立ちました。日常の暮らしから少しの間距離を置いてのんびり島暮らしを楽しみたい方、都会暮らしに疲れた方の息抜きとしてなどいろいろな用途として古民家すももをご利用していただけたらと思います。小豆島大好きの私が皆様の小豆島の滞在をサポートいたします。

I love travelling. I traveled with cameras in my hand in over 40 countries staying at guest houses and youth hostels, and Shodoshima island is the place to reach eventually. I was engaged in the lodging business on the island in my thirties and learned the know-how of island living. I took nearly 10 years to encounter this 80-year-old folk house. Me who love the island will fully support your stay. The cozy old house has been remodeled by the original owner, leaving the atmosphere of the Showa era. Please enjoy the feeling of a little time slip in the simple old house.
